Oh how I try

So I have been thinking about how I need to blog everyday, but that is hard! I don't want to write fluff about random stuff. I will tell you tho, in starting this business my thought has never been about money, that is why my price is so low. I really want to take back the Wedding industry, not personally of course, but i'd like to have a hand in taking weddings back from Corporate America! Why? Because a wedding should not put people in debt! It should be a wonderful time! Oh, did you know the "honeymoon period" referrers to two different legends? I don't know which legend came first but one evolved kidnapping the bride and hiding her til she was pregnant! The other, the father of the bride would pay his new son in law in Honey Mead everyday for the first month of the wedding. Interesting, and sad. Anyhow, Honeymoon, who wants to go on a Honeymoon worried about how much money the wedding costs? Let's cut out Corporate America and shop at the Mom n Pop shops again! I would like to highlight a local vendor every month and I already have my first one! I had the pleasure of working with Jessica McMaster of Blue Jasmine Studios ( www.bluejasminestudios.com ) this past weekend and I can wait to introduce you! Look for our Interview next Friday. In the mean time, check out my awesome painting!

An old tradition

10/15/2016

I of course research many Wedding traditions and the old wives tales that accompany them, like the one where rice kills birds so rice is no longer thrown at weddings. Rice is a grain, birds eat grains everyday.

I really like the Wedding Cake tradition, and not the tradition of smashing cake in your spouses face. The Wedding Cake was originally a small bun, which symbolized good luck and fertility. The bun was broken over the brides head at the close of the ceremony.  During the Middle Ages, custom required the bride and broom to kiss over a small cake.

Another interesting one, one I guess I never thought about, A bride is traditionally carried over the threshold either to symbolize her reluctance to leave her father’s home or because evil spirits hovered over the threshold of a house—so she was lifted over the entrance to protect her from the spirits.

A few traditions I plan on doing?
1) Kiss a chimney sweep on my wedding day.
2) Tuck a lump of sugar into my dress.
3) Chime Wedding Bells after our Ceremony.

Awesome tip!  In the U.S., Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company offers wedding insurance, which can cover any retaking of photographs, wedding attire or wedding gift replacements, and public liability

If I am planning a grand Wedding, a children's party or retirement dinner I am a happy gal! The minute I get an email asking for help I go right to work with a smile on my face and ideas in my head. It had never crossed my mind Wedding and Event Planners had to beware the "money scams" found on Craigslist. I am not sure if that is where "Desmmond" found me or not, but this is a copy of his email. "Desmmond Nichols" <desmondnichols12@gmail.com>

Thank you for your timely response Due to my Busy Schedule I want an
event planner in regards of my coming 10th wedlock anniversary which
is coming up in February 11th 2017 here and i don’t want
the party to be held at my house, am having a lot of stress regarding this event and i want you to please cater for this event for me and i also do believe that you will do me a lovely party and thrill my guest to the best of your ability.
*Getting us a venue
*Make proper arrangement for flowers and decor
*Photography service
*Food and drinks for the guest as i do not know what the guests might
choose for their meals and drinks, I will have to live that for you
but it shouldn't be more than my budget.
*I'd prefer a DJ and would like R&B and Jazz music.
*Event color : white and purple
*Budget : 14k

I want you to be rest assured that all the payments will go through
you as my party coordinator/event planner to all vendors and you can
get all the necessary arrangement done for my event as i am
officially out of town and i work 24/7 in a ship but will be in town 5 days prior to my wedding anniversary. My party time 3pm to 7pm, Expected guest is about 40 to 50 also how much do you charge for this
type of event deposit or full payment will be made asap with my credit
card once availability for venue is confirmed by you. I believe you
can bring a level of service that surpasses anything we’ve seen

before.
I await to read back from you.

It just breaks my heart someone may fall for this. I found very similar ads on Wedding.com and Thumbtack. Sad sad day.

Day of the Dead Wedding Report

10/13/2016

This Wedding was so fun! And the Bride was so chill I want to clone her! Izzy and I enjoyed ourselves so much, I ended up making her a Wedding Photo / Video collage just to thank her for making us feel so very welcome!

This was a very low key backyard wedding with all the right touches. Food catered by Qdoba, Fajita bar which I later turned into a nacho bar.

My favorite part? The self written vows a very tearful groom could barely speak.

Congratulations you too!

I have decided to never use names, my couples can tell if the blog is about them after all.

I just booked a Day of the Dead Wedding! I cannot tell you how excited this makes me! I am always excited to book a Wedding because this means the bride or family trusts me enough to take part in what might be a once in a lifetime event. I always find this an enormous honor.

As for this Day of the Dead Wedding, with the brides permission I will definitely be adding photos of her wedding to my blog!
